Artificial intelligence (AI) is all the rage these days. From recipes to programming, AI is already changing the way people work and have fun. The world of business is no stranger to this trend. For example, many entrepreneurs are wondering: Can AI write a business plan? In today’s post, we provide an answer.
What Is a Business Plan?
A business plan is a document that outlines the objectives, strategies, and finances of a company, serving as a roadmap for how to structure, run, and grow a business.
A well-written business plan should describe the company’s products or services, target market, competition, marketing strategies, financial projections, and management team.
Business plans are important because they are often used to attract investors and secure funding for the business.

Can AI Write a Business Plan?
Let’s face it: most people have a hard time putting their thoughts in writing. They find it difficult or even boring. If that sounds like you, we have good news: Artificial intelligence can indeed write a business plan (we just tried it and the results are pretty decent).
However, there are some things you have to keep in mind if you are planning to use ChatGPT or other similar AI offering to write your business plan.
For example, instead of using a general prompt (a prompt is the instruction you give to an AI system) such as “write a business plan for a company selling tennis shoes in California,” take a part-by-part approach and be specific.
Instead of just asking the AI chatbot “Write an introduction for a business plan for a company selling tennis shoes,” ask “Tell me about why tennis shoes are in high demand among young consumers.” The more specific your prompt, the more customized the result you will obtain.
Although the grammar of AI chatbots tends to be pretty good, they still make logical mistakes (the technical term is “hallucinate”) and may spit out some typos every now and then. To ensure the best quality, ask a person to proofread your AI-written business plan.
Finally, here’s the key takeaway. No AI on earth can help you if your business idea doesn’t have legs. Before punching prompts into ChatGPT, turn to other entrepreneurs or people you trust to validate your idea. While artificial intelligence is an incredibly useful tool, human insight remains invaluable.
